NextPass applies a 15% processing fee to the toll amount that includes the passthrough fees from our payment service providers and credit card merchants. Additionally, NextPass applies the processing fees charged by the state toll agencies.

State toll agencies determine prices based on different factors such as vehicle type and distance - or maximum toll prices when at dynamic tolling facilities.

Toll charges will show up in the "Tolls" section within 2 or 3 business days from the date of the trip. However, in some occasions, toll road operators may have different timeframes for processing toll transactions. The toll charge could take up to 60 days from the trip date to appear on your NextPass account.

You will receive a toll receipt by email as soon as the payment is charged to your credit or debit card. This charge usually happens within 1 or 2 business days after your trip date. However, in some occasions, toll road operators may have different timeframes for processing toll transactions. In this case, it may take up to 60 days for you to receive the toll receipt by email.

Toll payments are charged automatically, so you don´t need to confirm.

No, there is no balance required with NextPass. With NextPass, you will only be charged for the trips you take. You never have to pay in advance.

Yes. You can add additional credit or debit cards on file as your backup payment method. If one fails to process, we'll try the next card in your account.

Currently, you can pay for toll roads, bridges, tunnels, and express lanes within the Commonwealth of Virginia. With NextPass you can use cashless toll lanes in the Commonwealth of Virginia without incurring any violation fees. Please note, however, that the app is not supported at the Dulles Greenway, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, and RMTA´s toll facilities that are not open road tolling such as the Boulevard Bridge.

From the menu bar at the bottom of the app, select Activity, then click the Payments tab and you’ll see your payment history.

If you see a Correction in the Tolls or Payment tab of NextPass, it means that you were charged erroneously for a past trip. A Correction can increase or reduce the amount of the charge for the toll. You can see the details of the Correction by clicking on it in the Tolls or Payments tab.

If you see a Refund in the Tolls or Payment tab of NextPass, it means that you were erroneously overcharged for a past trip. You can see the details of the refund by clicking on it in the Tolls or Payments tab.

No. All vehicles registered on your account will be charged through the same payment method.

From the menu bar at the bottom of the app, select Account then My Payment Methods. You can add a new payment method, delete an existing one or change your default payment method. Always ensure that your default payment method is valid to avoid the risk of toll violation fees.

If you pay for a toll in a cash lane, you won't be charged in NextPass.

Yes. You will receive a push notification and an email notification each time your card is charged.

If your card is lost or stolen, you should cancel the lost card with your bank. Please note, if your card is cancelled you will still accrue charges with NextPass. To prevent toll fines or have your NextPass account blocked, please add a new credit or debit card and set it as the default payment method.

No. Only credit and debit cards are allowed as a payment method.

Foreign credit or debit cards are accepted regardless of their country of origin or currency. Note charges will always be applied in US dollars, so your Bank may apply exchange fees.
